 I created this kolam , few years back for blog and YouTube,  sharing a new set of pictures because it may be difficult to find among the hundreds of or it thousand plus +  kolangal in this blog !! We can draw beautiful , colourful kolam with 7 by 7 dots.  One example is shown in this blog post - first the completed chukki rangoli with colours .  Can also be used as a simple rangoli for New Year  with colours or as a daily vasal kolam as a white muggu Then this chukki rangoli without colours  The pictures below show the steps  Easy step by step pics for this seven dot kolam

If you want to learn  conch rangoli with dots , shanku chukki rangoli you may find the step by step pictures useful for learning. These variety are drawn for New Year, Sankranthi or Bhogi festivals.  We can also draw on Wednesday or Saturday if we have time to draw such a somewhat complicated rangoli. The dot pattern is 9,10,11,12 then 3, 2,1 dots.  This is a smaller version of a bigger muggu. As for as possible draw the elements of the shankam particularly the body whorl and spires ( top ) without joints. I have shared only the white muggu , you may add colours as per your imagination  Hope the pics showing the steps are clear to draw it for the festival

This is an easy method to create a muggu.  Using these repeated patterns we can create many designs.  I will share more ideas .   After drawing these , we can decorate with motifs and colours to make it beautiful .   We can draw for festivals  like Sankranthi or Ugadi or use for our daily purpose muggulu without colour.  The pink or rose patterns can be drawn on floor with tiles ( provided the background contrast is good )  As a cement floor rangoli also it may be possible. If you are looking for beautiful chukki rangoli designs or beautiful pulli kolangal this will certainly pass the test.  Dot pattern is 6 by 6  - First draw the without colour rangoli with repeated patterns Elliptical patterns connecting the dots and intersecting each other are drawn. Repeat throughout the dot grid. White muggulu of this type can be drawn for our daily purpose rangoli designs .  We can add colours as shown for important festivals like Ugadi and Bhogi 

 This is a simple but awesome kolam with 7 to 1 pulli.  The pics should be helpful for learners to try this kolam.  We can use it for our vasal kolangal or as part of our Margazhi festival decoration. Though it is small rangoli many steps have been added because we should not underestimate this muggu based on size.  If you are looking for 7 pulli kambi kolam , 7 dots sikku kolam or chukki rangoli 7 to1 ( though this is not a classical chukki design because we go round the dots ) Dot pattern is 7 to 1  Also called melikala muggulu or gantina rangoli these types are popular in South India.  We invariably find many houses decorated with sikku kolam  This pinnal kolam is nearing completion in the image below

 Free hand rangoli are beautiful in their own way.  We can let our imagination run riot while creating them.  We can finish our daily kolam in a jiffy if we can create these type.   While imagination is the limitation , we should ensure that all the patterns used are in agreement with one another. Using a small dot grid like 6 by 6 we can create a muggu with Pongal pot, sugarcane as shown in the photo   I have added step by step images also to make it easy to understand. Add colours and designs on the pot.  We can draw the Sun also above the pot to complete the concept of the festival.  There were requests from viewers on YouTube for a small, compact rangoli for Bhogi and Sankranthi theme viz. Pot , sugarcane or cheruku , Sun .  They requested due to  little space available at their entrance. In metros , in apartment complexes ,  it is common to see entrances of houses facing each other .  So the space available for creating a rangoli is less. The result is this kolam.  I have created this design with 7 and 9 dots as well.  It is available in this rangoli blog elsewhere. Tradtional muggulu are very easy and beautiful.  This design can be drawn independently or combined with four to make a big size design for Bhogi panduga.  I have shown the free hand patterns with white powder .  We can use colours to make a unique rangoli with white and colour combination.  If you would like to make this simple rangoli grand add colours or draw directly with colour kolam powder  The chukkalu are 6,4,4,6 and then 2 extra chukkalu at four corners. 6 If you are looking for old type kolam or white rangoli designs for any festival like Diwali or Dasara you can try this awesome rangoli idea.

For festivals like Bhogi , Sankranthi ( Pongal ) and also for Ekadasi.  This is a smaller version of a bigger muggu with 19 dots.  Add bright colours when drawing for festivals and kaavi border for Ekadasi .  It is a combination of three big and three small shankam.  One of the comments on Facebook for one my videos was "This is should be taught in schools .  Children will never leave classes".  I wonder why this simple art is not being taught in kids.  At least to my knowledge it is not part of the extra curricular activities. I am sharing step by step pictures of the muggu I created for Facebook.  Add kaavi colour to get a traditional look , decorate your house for  Bhogi festival .  It will give an auspicious aura . This is based on padi kolam theme of Tamil Nadu.  There are two schools in padi kolam.  In one of the two , we start with square base .  The lines are even 2, 4, 6.  This is not a classical padi kolam How to make muggu pindi at home  For those who are coming here for the first time ,  I use a mixture of  white muggu pindi and rice flour.  The ratio is for 3 parts muggu pindi I use one part rice flour.  Mix both thoroughly.  If there are any coarse particles in the muggulu powder remove with a sieve.  Decorate the centre according to your imagination Also a without chukki rangoli for Sankranti More the decorations ,  even more awesome rangoli we get We can decorate with kaavi or colours  You may also like to use this post for chukkala leni muggulu or white muggu.
