12 pulli kambi kolam Margali kolams
I have used a compact dot grid i.e the space between dots are less so that it is easy to present the images. The problem is that more concentration than usual is needed to draw long lines between/among the dots because it is very easy to get lost.
Step by step images for this big kambi kolam.
The step by step pictures below
Such kolangal can be drawn for Margazhi kolams or Pongal too . Kambi kolams are popular during Pongal festival. Drawing long lines comes with practice, it is difficult but overall gives a beautiful effect because joints at the junction of line segments can be reduced, the longer the lines , lesser the joints.
If the junctions are visible we have to fill up with kola podi . If we do this at many places the beauty may get reduced.
These big rangoli designs bring nostalgic memories of Margazhi season when I was a kid. My mother and sisters drew a big kolam at dawn ( vaigarai as they say in Tamil ) . I was given the responsibility of adding colours occasionally .
I also was given the "task" of handing over the colours to my mother , sisters. My father served us hot coffee. For those who have experienced there is nothing like a cup of hot coffee early in the morning during December- January.
If you are looking for chukki rangoli ( though this is a different type of rangoli with dots ) , Sankranthi melikala muggulu , Bhogi kolam designs , I think you can proudly display this rangoli in your courtyard. One of the top rangoli designs - sikku kolangal because drawing some of them is a feat.
